Just Keep Running

I don't know how many people who read this or follow this blog, but I am training for a half-marathon. Running has always been a long-time hobby of mine. I have ran lots of 5k's and the occasional 10k, so I decided to take it up another notch and try something more difficult.
So I sit and relax for another day after running. Even though I am still in my first week of training, my morning runs are great. As much as I would love to stay in bed and sleep, running in the morning is a good wake-up and start to the day. Now when I run over the weekends, that will be a different story, obviously I'll have to run after work.
I'm still not quite sure how I ended becoming a runner. I tell people that it was just one day I ran home from school, which was about 4-5 miles and ran the whole time and here I am today, still going. I've taken breaks from time to time and somehow fallen back into it. There was a time when I did swim for about 2 months and I enjoyed swimming but came back to running.
I come across people who find me odd for running around the neighborhoods and streets of Springfield instead of tread-mills. Besides the fact that running stationary is just boring and sometimes painful, running in the streets is a semi-adventure. Sometimes just going out for a run and being in areas you've never seen before is fun. I'd someday love to get my stamina up and just run for several miles out in some scenic area. Excercising my heart and body while exercising my eyes and imagination. Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend.

Long Time, No Update

Well here I sit at home and update about something. Not a whole lot has gone on since last posting. Football and soccer season are starting up, I'm super excited about both. The World Cup was great. I watched a lot but still think I missed a lot of games.
I start training for my half-marathon next week. I'm looking forward to running in it. The race is November 7, happy early birthday to me.
Summer for Brandy is almost over and this has been a great summer. I was great just to spend time all summer with her.
Well that's all for now. When an idea pops in my head about a good post, I shall post. For now just enjoy this little snipit.

Regular Thing

Well here we are again. This updating thing may become a more regular thing, but don't get your hopes up.
I guess I'll go ahead and break the news to everyone, but Brandy was in an accident about 2 weeks ago. She got rear-ended pretty hard by a Dodge Ram truck going 40mph and didn't brake at all. Brandy is alive, her car is dead. But Brandy has pretty bad back pains. Please keep her in your prayers, as this has not been a good September for her, Brandy's direct words.

Well things with me are going well. I took my first accounting test and holy crap, if I didn't get a 79. Yeah I know that's not high but considering how much I have struggled in this particular class, so HUGE for me. That's all the school news for now. I have another test on Monday night for my night class, so I'll keep you updated on that.

In other news, I finally have a bike, thank you to Courtney for letting me have it. This is all in preparing for a triathalon sometime next year. I've been running for a good amount during the summer and doing some swimming as well. I had a bike but it broke so I have been without a bike to train on, but now that it's fall, I can't do much cycling but running will never get old to me. So I'll run as much as I can outdoors til it gets unbearable and I'll swim at our gym. I registered for a 10k (6.2 miles) on Halloween and I hope that goes well. It will be the first 10k I've done since running in Hospital Hill in KC in 2002. I also plan on doing a boot-camp put on by our gym. I know it's all insane but I've already lost 25 lbs this summer, so we'll see if this does anygood. Well that's all for now. GO Chiefs and Forza Milan!!!

My Sall, Summer+Fall

Well folks looks like I'm bored enough to update this thing. Boredom is something that doesn't come often to me, so I guess I'll use the time I got and update about some stuff.Since my last post was back in April, I'll see if I can't recall some activites from the past few months.

Summer has come and gone and it went by fast. I took two classes over the summer and I was worried but pulled through and came out with B's in each class. HOORAY!! Brandy and I went on some trips, mostly to KC. Summer school and my job pretty much put a damper on vacations during the summer. Blah :-( Went to a couple of Royals games, which was nice since we didn't get to any last year. The new stadium is awesome, it looks amazing. We also went to a few Springfield Cardinals games, we just sat out in GA, with our blanket and talked and watched a little of the game. Brandy told me the best news of the summer; she enjoys going to Royals games more than she does Springfield Cardinals games. BEST NEWS EVER!!!! She is an official Royals fan, even though her favorite player is gone.

For the most part that was our summer, hang out here and there, class mostly there and throw in a few days of Coca-Cola and BAM you have my summer. I would say en exciting part of summer was working with American Cancer Society and a bike ride I helped but together with some other folks at ACS. It was the second year and we had triple the amount of riders and got great response from the ride. Of course, with the good you have to take the bad and there were some sour apples but overall a great time was had.

Well fall is now here and I'm loving the weather. I would like to thank August for being such a great prelude into September. So much for August being the "Dog Days of Summer", it was more like the "Lazy Cool Dog Days of Summer." All of the pull-0vers I got for Christmas last year are paying off greatly right now. So football season has started and the Chiefs are the Chiefs, I'm preparing for heartbreak. Italian soccer season has started and AC Milan are starting out less than hoped but new coach and losing your top player are going to be there biggest faults this year. I'm hoping they'll finish in the top 10 but I'm not getting my hopes up for top 5.

School has begun for the fall and it's another step towards graduating. Seems to be the most elusive part of my life right now but I'll get there. Brandy's second year of teaching has less stress than last year but it's still teaching and it's gonna be stressful. Brandy has some news of herself but I'll let her talk about it (sorry not that news), this news is less than happy. So stay tuned. Hope you all have a great day and week. See you in 5 months for the next update.

...And So It Begins

Well after much debate with myself, I have decided to start a blog. Don't know how often I will be updating and blogging. Be prepared for my mind to wander and go off on many things. Many of them being about sports, music, and just rants about people in general. Hope you all are prepared for what is about take place in the next whatever...however long this thing lasts.

At the end of each blog I shall end with a soup of the blog. Sometimes it will be relevant to what I talked about, or whatever sounds good, or some concoction comes outta my head. Everybody enjoy!!!
